Howard Cooke was an actor, who grew up on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. His success on stage and screen included the role of ‘Pex’ in season 24 of Dr Who.
He became a theatrical agent for Norma Skemp in 1989, progressing to Director of Frazer-Skemp Management, then set up Howard Cooke Associates in 1993.
Industry lawyer Sylvia Coleman, who has previously worked with Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music, supports Howard Cooke Associates as a legal consultant, to handle business affairs.
Howard Cooke Associates pride themselves on only submitting clients for a casting brief if they believe there is a genuine good fit for the role, thus building a good relationship with Directors and Casting Directors.
That strategy also focuses client time and resources towards auditions for which they have a realistic chance of winning the job.
Some of the performers on the client roster have been represented by Howard Cooke Associates for many years, attesting to a positive agency relationship. When Howard Cooke Associates take on a new client, they select carefully with the aim of long term representation, and do not easily take performers on with the aim of quickly discarding them if no work appears.
