Debbie McWilliams, Casting Director

Debbie McWilliams started her casting career back in 1980, after completing an arts degree and secretarial college. By chance, she saw a newspaper advert for a theatre secretary, working at the Royal Court Theatre for the casting director. Even as a child she knew she’d love to work in the theatre world, but not as an actress, so felt immediately at home at the Royal Court Theatre. Her move into casting for screen happened by a series of happenstance and building up good contacts. From there she built up the experience, instinct and knowledge to pick the right actors for each role.

Over the years she has worked on some legendary TV shows and movies, including more than a dozen Bond films, and watched the industry change significantly.

Hear Debbie McWilliams in an interview with the Cornwall Film Fest Mor Media Charity.
