Rose Wicksteed, Casting Director

Rose Wicksteed is a London-based Casting Director and full Member of The Casting Directors’ Guild (CDG).

Rose Wicksteed attended a foundation course in Acting at the Oxford School of Drama, in 1999, before studying for a degree in Modern Drama Studies.

During the student summer holidays she took plays to the Edinburgh Festival, getting valuable experience as a young theatre producer and director.

After graduating, Rose worked as a runner and researcher for factual and reality TV productions. Working on an ITV show about regressing celebrities back to the past lives, she was auditioning actors to play the reconstructions and it sparked her interest in entering the casting profession.

So in the summer of 2006, Rose Wicksteed worked as a Casting Assistant for a new children’s drama series, helping to audition thousands of children at the London casting sessions.

Over the next three years, Rose worked as a Casting Assistant for Nina Gold, Lucinda Syson, Elaine Grainger & Jina Jay, some of the biggest Casting Director names in the UK.

Assisting casting for well-known feature films, including ‘Inception’, ‘Clash of the Titans’, ‘Chronicles of Narnia’, and ‘Bright Star’, meant she also worked for notable directors including Jane Campion, Christopher Nolan, Alfonso Cuarón, Tom Hooper, Robert Zemeckis, and Richard Eyre.

With this wealth of knowledge and experience behind her, Rose Wicksteed became a Casting Director in 2009.

In 2012 she was nominated for an Artios Award (USA) for Outstanding Achievement in Casting for BAFTA award-winning short film ‘Room 8’.

Then in 2014 she was named a Screen International Star of Tomorrow.

A number of other projects she has worked on have also won top industry awards and nominations.

  • BAFTA nominated and BIFA award winning The Survivalist
  • First two seasons of the Golden Globe nominated and Emmy award winning show Genius: Einstein and Picasso (Ron Howard / Brian Grazer / Imagine / Fox 21 / NatGeo)

Rose Wicksteed has also worked closely with Dixie Chassay. Together they cast ‘The Great’ for Hulu.
